Get on board with the bigger is better way of thinking for this larger format tobacco card. Released in 1912 the T227 Series of Champions set looks as though it may have gotten into the medicine cabinet for some PEDs, as these cards are considerably larger than typical tobacco issues of the day. Consisting of twenty-five multi-sport cards, this series features just four baseball players, all HOFers including the offered Richard “Rube” Marquard card. Backed with Honest Long Cut advertising, this somewhat tough antique is graded (FR 1.5) by top certification service SGC. As these cards were packaged in tobacco pouches without thought for preservation, high grade examples are very rare and the assigned grade for this card is actually on the plus side in comparison to other recently offered examples.
