The skipper of Brooklyn’s only World Series winner and, subsequently, the first-ever Dodger champions on the West Coast, Hall of Famer Walt Alston endured 23 seasons at the helm and wore this Dodgers jacket during the 1970s. The blue satin-like zippered garment features “Dodgers” angled across the chest in white twill. Within the wool-lined collar, a “W.A. Goodman & Sons” size “50” label is accompanied by a cloth hanger and a tag with handwritten notations of “Alston” and “55,” both of which are crossed out. Excellent wear! More on our website.
There are two front pockets, while blue-and-white stretch ribbed knit lines the 4-1/4”-wide collar, waistline and sleeve endings. Of note are the handwritten notations on the blank tag within the collar. The “Alston” has been crossed out, as has “55.” The latter identifier suggests subsequent wear by Sergio Robles during the 1976 season (Alston's final campaign), as Robles was the first Dodger player to wear that number since 1958 (Ron Fairly) and the last to wear it before 1996. Evidence of wear includes faint dirt stains and puckering about the twill components.
