September 11, 1985 Full Ticket: issued at Riverfront Stadium for the contest in which Rose broke what had long been deemed an unapproachable record, this full voucher features printed seating/event details on the obverse, and printed legal/rain check details and the facsimile signature of club president Robert Howsam on the reverse. Sharp edges/corners, strong perforations, a crease-free surface and clean reverse combine for an overall presentation quality stronger than the technical grade suggests.
September 11, 1985 Program: issued at Riverfront Stadium for Rose’s date with immortality, this 60-page guide features a likeness of Rose on the cover kneeling on the artificial turf with baseballs arranged to read “4192,” which was a foregone conclusion as the program was issued. Rose has signed in blue marker (“10” strength) and inscribed “Ty Cobb Ha Ha Hit King.” The program presents nicely with covers and all crisp pages intact. The scoring grids are unmarked. The guide definitively dates to the September 9-12 series vs. the Padres, as text on page 32 details an upcoming weekend series with the Dodgers in which a June 12 rainout was to be made up. Additionally, an accompanying 1985 letter (on Reds stationery) from former Public Relations Director Jon Baude attests to the program as being from the September 11 game.
(2) Signed Photographs: includes an 8x10 color print of Rose in what appears to be his 1963 rookie road uniform; signed in blue marker (“10” strength); and an 8x10 color print of Rose; signed in blue marker (“10” strength) and inscribed “1st Game Back 1989”
Also included are (5) pages of AP copy printed on what appear to be transferable caption sheets. All are dated “9-11’85” and include content regarding Rose’s record-breaking hit.
