Back in the day when baseball had no competitors at the professional sports level, indoor track and field sated fans in the Nation’s Capital as they awaited opening day at Griffith Stadium. This program was issued at Washington’s Convention Hall for the third annual meet on February 5, 1910. The meet featured competition in various events at both collegiate and high school levels, with local participants among the latter entries. On the back cover, a full advertisement urges fans to “Watch for the Opening Game at American League Park” and showcases an artist’s rendering of Senators ace Walter Johnson.
The covers and crisp pages present beautifully and is absent of any vertical creases normally found on event-issued programs of this era. The center page (pages 15, 16, 17, 18), however, is missing.
