Led by Honus Wagner the 1909 Pittsburgh Pirates captured their first World Series title by downing Ty Cobb and the Detroit Tigers. Presented is a uniquely configured 1909 Pirates team “accordion style” postcard. This rare piece features a (2) panel photo of Forbes Field, (17) individual player panels including Wagner and (4) blank writing panels. Presenting in unused condition with excellent original details including well preserved photos this dynamic specimen is the finest of its type we have seen. This item has a reserve. Estimated value is $1,000-2,000. More on our website.

When unfolded this postcard reveals a connected four panel diamond configuration at center with a two wing panel on the front and a wall of eight panels across the back resulting in a truly unusual pattern worthy of display. The nicely preserved photos are clear images against clean cream colored backgrounds. Overall this piece shows in very handsome state marginally affected by one partially separated panel, some minor soiling on the front and back covers and a moderate crease on the address panel. The address panel bears the term “Extension Post Card”. The interlocking tabs read “Patented Specialties Co., 431 Frick Building, Pittsburgh, Pa.” and “W.M. Dick Company, Printers, Pittsburgh, Pa.”. Hall of fame player/manager Fred Clarke is shown on the panel to the left of the address panel and the two-panel Forbes field photo is on the back cover. All player photos show the individual players name and fielding position below the player’s image.
