1868 was to be the last purely amateur season for baseball as 1869 saw the fledgling National Association begin professional play. The two prominent Washington D.C. teams, the Nationals and the Olympics both joined the short-lived NA. Presented are (2) rare 1868 Press Passes, one for each of the D.C. teams. Both passes measure 3” x 4-3/4” and present in nicely preserved condition with sturdy paper and bold graphics. These complimentary ducats were issued respectively to a Republican newspaper reporter by the National Club and to the Republican editors by the Olympic Club.
