Complying with political demands in the age of the Cold War and McCarthyism, the Cincinnati Reds adopted “Redlegs” as its name from 1954 through 1959. This Gibbs-Conner porcelain bank was crafted during that tense period. The mustachioed figure smacks of 1800s baseball with a bat in hand and a pillbox cap. The baseball-shaped “bank” has a bright red “C” logo. A wondrous and well-maintained specimen.
