1937 was the Redskins first season in Washington, and their 6th season in the NFL. They drafted tailback Sammy Baugh, from Texas Christian University, in the NFL's first round, and Baugh led the squad to the '37 NFL Championship. The Redskins' Cliff Battles led the league in rushing that year with 874 yards, and the Redskins won the 1937 Championship game that year by a 28-21 score over the Chicago Bears.
This 1937 Washington Redskins World Champion 22x6 panoramic photo features 23 players from that historic team. With leather helmets and no chin straps, they are like gladiators from a different era. Teams then had half the players of today’s rosters. The bottom of the photo reads “Washington Redskins - 1937 World's Champions” and “Courtesy of Washington Herald Times.” Each player has their facsimile signature above them as well an inscription of the college they attended.
