“Philly Phever” strikes with this selection of (5) 1976-1979 Philadelphia Phillies game-worn jerseys. The Phillies had transitioned from basement dwellers to postseason contenders by 1976, and the fine fellows that donned these shirts gave their best to keep their squad in the playoffs hunt through the late-1970s. All (5) of these zippered jerseys show moderate wear/use and all remain very attractive.

Featured are:

1976 #27 powder blue jersey with Wilson size “42” label, and the identifier tag “42 76 set 1” on the front left tail, indicating size, season, and uniform set number. Number 27 patches are seen on the front and back, however the nameplate has been removed. Willie “The Phillie” Montanez wore number 27 with the Phils from 1971-1975 and was traded to the Giants in May of ’75. No player on the 1976 Phillies roster wore this number.

1977 #14 Tommy Hutton pinstriped white jersey with Wilson size “42” label, and “42 77 1” identifier tag on the left front tail, has a “Hutton” label inside the collar, and the nameplate has been removed from the back. Hutton’s number “14” patches are seen on the front and back.

1979 #16 Ramon Aviles pinstriped white jersey with Wilson size “40” label, and “79 2” identifier tag on the left front tail, has an Aviles nameplate on the back, and a (Todd) Cruz label inside the collar. Cruz was a September call-up in 1978, but was traded to the Royals at the start of the 1979 season. Aviles was a capable utility player with the Phillies from 1979-1981.

1979 #25 Jerry Martin pinstriped white jersey with Wilson size “42” label, and “79 2” identifier tag on the left front tail, has a Martin label inside the collar and nameplate on the back. After five useful seasons with the Phillies, Martin was traded to the Royals during 1979 Spring Training.

1979 #48 Dickie Noles pinstriped white jersey has a Wilson size “42” label, and “79 1” identifier tag on the left front tail. Noles’ nameplate is seen on the back, and a (Don) Larsen label is located inside the collar. Larsen made one appearance for the Phillies in September of 1978, and spent most of the rest of his time with the organization in the Minor Leagues. Noles made 14 starts for the Phils in 1979 and was an integral part of the bullpen for the 1980 World Series champions. Opening Bid $200.
