It seems Wizards of the Coast sort of skipped a step in the evolutionary process for this 1999 Pokemon card #2 Blastoise. That's because this holo-version card is a "Stage" error. Blastoise evolved from Wortortle, as duly noted by an inset image at top left on the face of the card. The word "Stage," however, is omitted from the evolution box at top where there is blank space between "Put Blastoise on the" and "1 Card," where the word "Stage" should have been printed. This high-demand error card is graded (MINT 9) by PSA.
