On the island nation of Cuba it was "Viva la Revolución" during the 1950s, and "Viva Fidel" for sixty years. Follow the longtime Cuban president's rise to power and other interesting subjects with this 1940s-1960s Cuban non-sport card collection.
Highlighting this collection of colorful cards, are (2) 1960s Revista Cinegrafico Revolucion Cubana albums, each with a complete set of (268) razor sharp cards pasted in. Both albums have detached-but-present centerfolds, and one has some surface paper loss on the front cover. Both have fairly sturdy spines, and the colors remain vibrant. Back cover sponsor advertising is for the Felices brand of jellies and preserves. The cards all present as pack fresh, showing average NM to MT details. While the great majority of the cards have obverse illustrations, the centerfold is home to (16) real photo cards, depicting heroes of the Cuban Revolution, including Fidel Castro, his brother Raul Castro, Camilo Cienfuegos, and Ernesto "Che" Guevara. Many of the illustrated cards also depict these central figures. As noted on the front cover, the events commemorated transpired during the period 1952-1959, with coverage of the failed Moncado attack, Castro's return from exile aboard the yacht Granma, the ouster of military dictator Fulgencio Batista, and the triumph of the revolution.
