Non-Sport specialists take flight, with this stimulating 1936-1937 Heinz Co. Famous Aviators and Famous Airplanes wall map. Reported as a premium offered to school teachers, this high-flying map is quite scarce. Sized at 42x31, this glossy map features depictions of 24 of the 25 cards from the Heinz F277-4 Famous Aviators series across the top, and all 25 of the cards from the F277-1 Famous Airplanes series across the bottom. Though his card is not represented, a portrait image of Charles Lindbergh centers the aviator cards at top. Other prominent fliers depicted are Eddie Rickenbacher and Jimmy Doolittle. Another interesting feature is the charting of famous pioneering flight routes, laid out across the map. Attrition has taken a considerable toll on this antique premium, with a 12” horizontal tear across the bottom-right of the metal hanging strip, along with a 5” vertical tear at bottom-center, and some surface loss at the bottom-right corner. There’s another 5” vertical tear running through the Lindbergh portrait, however this condition is fairly unobtrusive, and Lindbergh’s image remains captivating. Despite the wear, this rare food brand premium stands as a nice find.
