Iron Man debuted in the 3/63 Tales of Suspense issue #39. As a founding member of The Avengers later on in 1963, you would think he would have had his own title to zoom around in. Devoted readers had to wait until 1968 for “Shellhead” to finally get his own title, and here we have the inaugural issue with this 5/68 Marvel Iron Man #1. This late Silver Age key was held by the original owner since he purchased it as a kid at a Philadelphia newsstand when it first came out in 1968. Loving storage has resulted in a (6.5, Off-White to White Pages) grade from leading certification service CGC. Creative contributors are Archie Goodwin story, Gene Colan and Johnny Craig art, and Gene Colan cover. CGC’s label notes are “Story continued for Iron Man and Sub-Mariner #1, Origin of Iron Man retold”
