What a long strange trip it's been for Dr. Strange. Founded in 1951, Marvel's Strange Tales anthology series began as a Horror/Sci-Fi title. In the early 1960s, this title morphed into a solid super-hero double feature starring the Human Torch, Dr. Strange, and Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD, at various times. The good doctor graduated to his own solo title in 1968, as did Fury. The Master of the Mystic Arts then made several appearances in Marvel Premiere in the early 1970s, before embarking on a second solo run in 1974. More comic book titles followed in later years, and eventually Dr. Strange became a mainstay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He was also mentioned by Marc Bolan in the T-Rex song "Mambo Sun," which is certainly his strangest appearance.

Here we're heading back to Dr. Strange's earliest adventures, with this 1960s Marvel Strange Tales and Doctor Strange Series 1 comic book collection of (70). Nick Fury and the Human Torch are also prevalent in the Strange Tales issues, which cover most of the numbers from 104 through 168, and the Doctor Strange issues cover most of his first series run.
