Marvel had a thing for pairing super-heroes in double-feature, original-story issues back in the 1960s. Characters such as Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Sub-Mariner, Ant-Man/Giant-Man, Human Torch, Nick Fury, and Dr. Strange shared space in popular titles Strange tales, Tales of Suspense, and Tales to Astonish. In 1968, many of these iconic heroes were graduated to solo titles. After this, Stan "The Man" Lee and Company still couldn't resist packaging hero tales together, so they launched Fantasy Masterpieces, Marvel Super-Heroes, Marvel Collectors' Item Classics, and Marvel Tales, which featured mostly recycled tales, along with occasional new stories.
