This unique original 1960s Baltimore Colts game-used helmet, size 7 ½, was originally obtained in a Baltimore auction in the early 1980s and came directly from Clay Reid, the equipment manager of the Baltimore Orioles from 1961 to 1983. It is accompanied by a note from Reid stating, “This helmet was given to me by the assistant equipment manager of the Baltimore Colts.” It is attributed to Gary Cuozzo, backup quarterback to the great Johnny Unitas. There is no additional documentation, only that it was an original game used helmet from the 1960s, as stated in the letter from the consigner. There's just a shell, most of the inside padding has been removed. There are numbers marked on the inside, “64” (crossed out replaced with “11”), and “2” is printed on the rear stretch band. Chin strap is not original. Shows heavy game-use. Opening Bid $200.
