Recall "the Greatest Game Ever Played" with this 1958 NFL Championship Game program and ticket stub pairing. For decades the NFL had competed for attention with the college game. Televised to 45 million viewers, this hard-fought contest gave the league a big boost, setting the NFL on the path to becoming the top sports league in the United States. The game’s MVP Johnny Unitas made a name for himself, leading his Baltimore Colts to an overtime victory against the New York Giants.



Moderate wear on the front cover of the 12/28/58 program forces a (VG-EX) grade for this high-profile publication, which is otherwise crisp, clean and pleasing from cover to cover. The ticket stub is in lesser state with several creases and a piece of tape on the back. Though this stub rates as technically as (PR), the obverse remains fairly attractive and suitable for display.



Also present is a 1958 Baltimore Colts Picture Album in solid (EX-MT) condition. This nicely preserved souvenir-stand issue features two dozen full-page photos, including a dynamic shot of Unitas, along with fellow Hall of Famers Lenny Moore, Art Donovan, Raymond Berry, Jim Parker, and Gino Marchetti.
