The over-sized well-preserved 21x27 four-page complete Saturday edition of this Iowan newspaper was printed the same day Abraham Lincoln died. Interestingly, the back page headline is more prominent than the one on front page. On the back in large bold type, unusually graphic for newspapers of the time, Lincoln as well as J. Wilkes Booth are featured prominently. Below the headline, the complete third and fourth columns recount the tragic event. The third column front-page article headlined, “A Most Horrible Event!” was obviously type-set earlier in the day than the dramatic detailed back-page article. Striking Excellent condition with creamy-white pages. Perfect for a framed double-sided glass display. Opening Bid $500.
