"Big Papi" is in the house with this 2008 game-used bat. Hall of Fame slugger David Ortiz was a decent player during his 6 years with the Minnesota Twins, however it was his 14 seasons in Boston that saw him do most of his damage. The beefy Dominican-American battered opposing pitchers to the tune of 541 home runs, some mighty sweet music for the Red Sox Nation. Turned out by Nokona, this black bat with gold lettering was employed by Ortiz during one of his 10 All-Star seasons with the Red Sox. There's a stylish factory logo on the mid-point branding spot, and the barrel is labeled with "Customized Model David Ortiz Pro Maple". Ortiz' uniform "34" is affixed to the knob in gold stickers, and this bat is crack free. Extensive use is evident, with multiple contact marks and baseball stitch impressions on the barrel, and there's a considerable coating of gripping agent on the handle. The accompanying LOA provides a grade of (GU 10), and cites "The bat exhibits outstanding use and possesses identifiable player use characteristics."
Full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot. Opening Bid $400.
