The Boston Red sox may have suffered the “Curse of the Bambino”, but they were also blessed with some pretty darn good ballplayers, such as Ted Williams, Jimmie Foxx, Carl Yastrzemski, and Jim Rice. The latter of these revered Hall of Famers graces the auction scene, with this signed, game-used bat. This un-cracked Louisville Slugger signature model C243 bat was used by Jim Rice during the period 1977-1979, encompassing his 1978 AL MVP season. Signs of authentic use include contact marks, bat rack streaks, and cleat impressions on the barrel. Rice’s uniform number “14” is written on the knob, and he has signed on the barrel with (“9”) strength, between the factory brand label, and the facsimile autograph burned in below the model number.

Full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA with (GU 8) grade for game use.

Full LOA from James Spence/JSA for the autograph. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot. Opening Bid $300.
