Denis Menke had a respectable career as an infielder with several teams, making the All-Star team twice. His long coaching career saw him as the Phillies hitting coach from 1989 to 1996.

 

This road jersey and pants that he wore in the 1989 season was obtained by our consignor at the 1990 Phillies’ Wives Auction for ALS, and includes an LOA signed by Menke on Phillies stationery. The road gray Rawlings jersey, size 48, is tagged “Set 1/1989” and has “Menke” nameplate and “14” on the back. It is signed by Denis Menke (“9”) on the left shirttail. The pants are size 38 and are tagged “Menke 38 27 Set 1/1989” on the inside rear waistband. The two uniform items show light wear.
