1970-1982 Philadelphia Phillies Game-Worn Jackets (2) Attributed to Larry Bowa - Both with Phil Wood LOA :
A baseball lifer stayed alive wearing these (2) 1970-1982 Philadelphia Phillies warm-up jackets. Attributed to Larry Bowa, both vintage jackets show considerable signs of authentic wear. Playing at a weight of 155 pounds, Bowa was a fiery shortstop who has been living, breathing and eating baseball as a player, coach, manager, and executive, ever since he first put on a professional uniform way back in the late '60s. Given his amped-up attitude, it’s a wonder he needed a jacket at all to fight off the chills of Philly in Spring and Fall.
The older of the (2) jackets has a logo dating to 1970-1972, though by the looks of it, use could well have extended beyond this date range. A Champion factory label inside the collar of this thermal-lined garment indicates the size “Medium” and an attached manila tag has “Bowa” written on it. There’s a hole in the vinyl “P” logo on the front and splashes of green paint are noted around the pockets, and on the left sleeve. The zipper functions smoothly, the drawstrings appear to be original, and the hood is fully intact and serviceable.
The second jacket is a lighter weight example, dating from circa 1973-1982. The factory label is absent, and there are two tears inside the collar where it was attached. A large Phillies “P” adorns the left breast and the snap buttons are decorated with leaves. Moderate soiling and general aging are noted, and the drawstring also appears to be original.
Each jacket comes with an individual LOA from Phil Wood.
