Go all in as you heed the siren song of this irresistible piece of authentic stadium memorabilia. Presented is a 1950s Kansas City Athletics stand-up entrance sign. Mounted on a tripod stand, this 30x30 green metal sign is all display appeal. The front is painted with a fantastic rendering of the A’s elephant mascot, a batter, and a pitcher, over a baseball diamond. Two sets of brackets are positioned on the left, which held slide-in cards that would have announced game information. The mascot is balanced on a baseball containing the legend “Your Athletics at Home”. Paint wear on the front is relatively modest, given the considerable age of this seventy-year-old event promoter, and oxidation is a minor factor resigned to the back. A rectangular metal box affixed to the back was obviously intended to hold the cards to be slid into the brackets on the front. A factory identifier on the box reads “A.B.C. Sign & Neon CO. K.C. MO.”, The three legs of the tripod stand function properly, however the upper end of the pole on the left is bent at the top, and is not attached at the top junction of the poles, though it is securely attached at the bottom of the sign. Despite this condition, the sign stands freely, and the overall appearance of this vintage treasure is outstanding.
