A singular “Clash of the Titans” took place at the 1962 World Series. It was there that all-time greats Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays opposed each in post-season play for the first, last and only time. The Associated Press was diligently on hand, and the fruit of its labor surfaces here with this Mays and Mantle dual-signed 8x10 black and white photograph. A well-known AP shot, this classic photo captured the elite center fielders flashing big smiles. A good many years later, these Titans added their autographs to this classic photo by means of a blue fiber-tip marker, and both signatures project a (“10”) degree of potency. Stamped with an AP credit on the back, this handsome photo remains crisp, clean and glossy, with sharp images. While the top and bottom borders each have one tiny notch near the left edge, this condition is unobtrusive. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
