Hall of Fame relief specialist Lee Smith was putting together yet another great season in 1994, when the infamous strike brought everything to an abrupt halt. An All-Star for the sixth time in 1994, Smith racked up 33 saves, with 42 Ks against just 11 walks in 38.1 innings of work, to earn his third Rolaids Relief Man Award. From this stellar season comes this Smith game-ready Baltimore Orioles bat. This black Louisville Slugger model C243 bat features the names "Lee Smith" and "Baltimore Orioles" on the barrel, in silver lettering. Accompanying this lightly used stick is a COA signed by Smith, stating "I, Lee Smith hereby verify that this black Baltimore Orioles Louisville Slugger C243 bat was used by myself during a MLB game. This bat is 100% authentic and has been part of my personal collection." As the DH was employed by the AL, Smith had zero at-bats in 1994, though he may have taken some batting practice swings on occasion. The barrel shows light signs of use/wear including a few small contact marks and several cleat impressions, and the handle is slightly tacky, with light traces of gripping agent residue. For the record, Smith had 71 career plate appearances during his 18 MLB seasons and managed three hits. for a .047 batting average. With such a low contact frequency, Smith likely employed very few bats during his brilliant career, and scarcity value to the handsome model offered here.

Opening Bid $50.
