In 1996, popular publication Baseball Magazine opened its archives to collectors, through a sale run by Christie's. A piece from that historic sale surfaces here, with this 1914 Federal League Baltimore Terrapins Mickey Doolin news service photo. Stamp dated 6/2/1914 on the back, this antique photo is sized at 4-3/4" x 9-1/2". An array of other provenance on the back, includes the stamp "The Federal Base Ball Club of Baltimore Inc.", the credit stamp "Photo By Harry B. Leopold, Baltimore, MD," editorial notations, a misspelling of Doolin's surname as "Doolan" and a "Christie's Original 1996 Baseball Magazine" hologram sticker. A longtime Philadelphia Phillies shortstop who jumped shipped to the upstart Federal League, Doolin is pictured warming up before a game on the front, outlined by cropping lines. At 110 years of age, this photo remains glossy and appealing, with deference to moderate rippling across the top, and small notches of surface loss on the left edge, and bottom-right corner.
