Salute a great American General, with this George S. Patton typed letter signed. Quite literally a tank-driving force to be reckoned with, General Patton was instrumental in winning WWII. Though he had the weight of crucial command upon his shoulders, the career military man made it a point to keep up with correspondence to America's youth. On multiple occasions, we have had the privilege of offering examples of Patton's letters and free franks to his pen pal in Pennsylvania. Here, while holding the senior grade rank of four-star general, just s few month's before his untimely demise on 12/21/45, Patton's answers a West Virginia Cub Scout's request for an autograph with this brief reply. Dated 8/20/45 on Headquarters Third United States Army letterhead, this thoughtful correspondence remains crisp and attractive. The content reads "Dear Larry, My signature to this letter is the autograph you request, and I am inclosing (sic) a Third Army Shoulder Patch. Good luck in your Cub Scout project," followed by Patton's ("7.5") strength steel-tip fountain pen signature, which is located away from the two original period compacting folds. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.

Opening Bid $300.
