Superb collection of five different boxing gloves used by legendary fighter Hector "Macho" Camacho and originating from the personal collection of a trainer who worked with Camacho throughout his career. Camacho, who earned the nickname "Macho" for his entertaining and commanding style, is notable for his successful amateur career as well as numerous notable successes as a professional, including titles in three different weight classes, two victories over Roberto Duran, and a noteworthy knockout of Sugar Ray Leonard. Born in Puerto Rico, Camacho relocated to New York at a young age and trained as part of the New York boxing scene as a teenager. The five gloves presented here are all attributed to use by Camacho personally during his career and in preparation for some of his biggest fights. As noted in the accompanying letter of provenance, Camacho was known to use the same gloves consistently during preparation due to his superstitions. Camacho, who passed away in 2012, has inscribed and/or signed four of the five gloves in some way. Among the inscriptions are "1-19-85 Return of the Macho Man," "NABA Champ Bala Camacho Jr.," and "Para Uncle Ray / We're on our way / Hector "Macho" Camacho vs. Rodriguez." The gloves, four of which are Reyes brand sparring gloves, are in overall excellent condition considering their use. The laces on the bottom of each glove remain intact and clean overall. This is a superb collection of gloves originating from a source very close to the legendary Hector "Macho" Camacho, which would be at home in any advanced boxing collection. Total: 5 gloves.
