Devoted Buffalo Bills fans feel right at home with this historic full ticket from the first ever Bills home opener. After roaming the 1960 preseason for five games, and then playing their first ever regular-season game at the New York Titans on 9/11/60, the Buffalo Bills welcomed 15,229 fans at War Memorial Stadium on 9/18/60, for their first ever home game. With such a small but fervent crowd on hand, surviving tickets are few in number. Prime examples such as the one offered here are rare indeed. Any unused AFL full ticket from the league’s inaugural season is a scarce collecting prize of high magnitude. This one goes the extra mile and then some, with a PSA-furnished grade of (NM 7), making it “1 of 1” at this level, with just one rated higher. PSA label notes are “1960 Buffalo Bills/Sep. 18, Broncos-27, Bills-21, War Memorial Stadium."
This full ticket is from the collection of a savvy consignor, who has held and protected a good number of 1960s AFL game full tickets since the dates of her original purchases in the 1960s. A total of six PSA-graded 1960s AFL tickets from this collection are included in this current Huggins and Scott Summer 2024 auction, along with two graded 1950 AHL hockey tickets and a bundle of 1980s-1990s tickets, which are not graded. More top-grade examples will follow in our coming Winter auction.
Opening Bid $250.
