Dave “Kong” Kingman launched more baseballs into orbit, than NASA has spacecraft. While the space agency used rocket fuel, Kingman relied on 3’ lengths of refined lumber, and his own self-contained power. One of the “Sky King’s” launch propellants surfaces here, with this 1981-1983 game-used Louisville Slugger bat. The middle year of this period saw Kingman earn his second of two NL home run crowns when he blasted 37 in 1982. This Genuine S2 Kingman signature model bat has a considerable section of loss on the handle, measuring 10-1/2 x 1”. Other signs of authentic heavy use are contact marks, bat rack streaks, and cleat indentations on the barrel. Kingman’s uniform number “26” is written on the knob in red, and he has signed the barrel in black, with (“7”) strength. Full LOA from John Taube-PSA/DNA for the bat. Auction LOA from James Spence-JSA for the autograph. Opening Bid $100.
