Though he still had a little more left in the tank, Brooks Robinson had pretty much done it all by 1973. Manning the third base position as well as humanly possible for his only MLB employer, the Baltimore Orioles, the rock steady Hall of Famer was a key man on World Series championship squads in 1966 and 1970. Robinson was also the 1964 AL MVP, the 1970 WS MVP, and he was chosen as both an All-Star, and a Gold Glove winner, every season since 1960.

As great as he was in field, Robinson was also consistently productive on offense as well. It was business as usual for “The Human Vacuum Cleaner” in 1973, when he came to the plate repeatedly with the offered game-used bat in his hands. An Adirondack Big Stick model 170B, this fifty-year old war club shows outstanding signs of game use, including a handle crack, numerous contact marks on the barrel, and tape extending 9-1/2” up on the handle. The model number is stamped into the knob, and Robinson’s number “5” is written over it. Also written on the knob is “33” (ounces). All barrel and factory labeling graphics remain bold and overall, this bat presents very handsomely. The accompanying LOA cites an impressive game use grade of (GU 9.5). Full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA. Opening Bid $1,500.
