1950 Was a busy year for Jackie Robinson. Not only did he cross the plate 99 times that season, as his Brooklyn Dodgers took NL pennant winners the Philadelphia Phillies down to the wire, he also starred in his own biopic, "The Jackie Robinson Story". Robinson's dual-roles as ballplayer, and actor are recalled with this 1950 Central Press Association Type I photograph of Robinson accepting an award. This original 7x9 photo is encapsulated by PSA, with the designation (Type I Authentic 1950). Minor wear is noted on the corners, otherwise this vintage photo presents handsomely. As detailed on the reverse, Robinson is pictured receiving a Youth United scroll from Judge George J. Beldeck for his outstanding social service work, at a buffet dinner in the Dodger press clubhouse. The original period news service article affixed to the reverse is stamped 5/8/50, with the Central Press Association credit stamp. The article also mentions Robinson's biography film, with its theater opening date 5/16/50, and also a game between the Dodgers and the Phillies (likely on 4/26 or 4/27 at Brooklyn), with the press invited to the game by Eagle Lions Films, in honor of the upcoming film .

Opening Bid $300.
