A long gone Hall of Famer of great import hits the block, with this Tris Speaker autographed Government Postcard cut. Outstanding at the plate and in the field, the fleet centerfielder owns long-standing records for most doubles with 792, and most outfield assists with 449. His .345 career batting average is good for sixth all-time, and for good measure, he recorded a .543 win percentage in eight season as the Cleveland Indians manager. Speaker's election to the Hall of Fame as a member of the second induction in 1937, and his long ago demise in 1958, make him a prime autograph target for advanced collectors. This boldly signed cut fits the bill perfectly, with Speaker's distinct signature rating as a ("10") strength example. The crisp GPC has been neatly trimmed to dimensions of 5-1/2 x 2-3/4", and the address side bears a postmark dated 1/12/56. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
