Herb Hunter didn't have much of an MLB career, however he did make a lasting impression on the baseball world, by leading several barnstorming tours to Japan and other Asian countries. Finding a souvenir from one of Hunter's ancient expeditions to the Orient is cause for a minor celebration. Finding a half dozen with autographs, calls for trumpets, fireworks, and a great, big smile of satisfaction. Find your happy place, with this selection of (6) 1922-1923 U.S. Tour of Japan real photo postcards, hosting (10) certified autographs. Issued by the Universal Postal Union, these antique postcards sport images of players in uniform, from Hunter's second sojourn to the Far East. Each card has a Japanese language caption on the bottom border of the photo side. More Japanese lettering is seen along the right edge of the address sides, which are all printed at top in French with "Union Postale Universelle Carte Postal", which translates to "Universal Postal Union Post Card". A combined total of (13) autographs are spread across (5) cards, however only (10) are certified, and (1) card is not signed. Signature strength averages ("7-8"), with all autographs being readily discernible.

Featured are:

1.) Four-player shot signed by all pictured subjects, with Bert Griffith (d.1973), Riggs Stephenson (d.1985), George Kelly (HOF, d.1973), and "Bib" Falk (d.1989). The postcard shows FR-GD details with deference to a 1/2" triangle of loss at the top left corner.

2.) Two-player shot signed by both pictured subjects, with Luke Sewell (d.1987), and Fred Hofmann (d.1964). The postcard rates as (GD).

3.) Team photo signed by (2) of the subjects, with Riggs Stephenson, and Waite Hoyt (HOF, d.1984). The postcard rates as (GD).

4.) Three-player shot signed by Amos Strunk (d.1979), and Johnny "Doc" Lavan (not certified), who is not pictured, but has signed over "Casey" Stengel, who is pictured, but has not signed. Also pictured is Emil "Irish" Muesel, who has not signed. The postcard shows GD+ details with deference to a 1" section of loss at the bottom right corner.

5.) Three-player shot with signatures for all subjects, with Joe Bush, Herb Pennock, and Waite Hoyt. The Hoyt autograph is certified, while the Bush and Pennock autographs have been deemed to be secretarial examples. The postcard rates as (FR).

6.) Herb Hunter wearing a suit, not signed. The postcard rates as (VG) with deference to a very small spot of surface paper loss on the address side.

A single accompanying full LOA from James Spence/JSA covers (10) autographs spread across (5) postcards as listed above, with: Hoyt (2), Kelly, Sewell, Hofmann, Stephenson (2), Griffith, Falk, and Strunk. Opening Bid $200.
