While America was idling in neutral, the Axis powers were well into their mission of world conquest in 1941. The Pearl Harbor attack was looming in December, but on the domestic scene, baseball fans were treated to a truly historic season. A "subway series" meeting between the New York Yankees and Brooklyn Dodgers was coming in the Fall Classic, and on the day-to-day grind, remarkable sluggers Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio had their own battle for the MVP award. With his .406 batting average, .553 on base percentage, and 1.287 OPS, Williams was the better of the two, but DiMaggio's record 56-game hitting streak swayed voting to the media darling's favor, and "Teddy Ballgame" had to settle for second place in the standings, and the MVP voting.

Make this historic campaign yours, with this 1941 Baseball Magazine complete year run of all (12) monthly issues. Moderate wear and soiling put these eighty-two year-old publications in the Gd to Vg-Ex range. Williams is seen sliding home on the cover of the August issue, and a team photo of the World Series champion New York Yankees graces the front cover of the November issue. Articles include coverage of DiMaggio's streak in the September issue, and Williams .406 batting mark is celebrated in the December edition. Also seen throughout the pages of this 1941 season chronicle, are photos of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Ty Cobb, Hank Greenberg, Jimmie Foxx, Dom DiMaggio, Bob Feller, and a full page pin-up of Ted Williams inside the back cover of the October edition.

Opening Bid $50.
