Way back during the first decade of American League play, Harry Davis anchored Connie Mack's mighty Philadelphia Athletics, as the team's first baseman, and first ever captain. Davis rewarded Mack's trust with reliable play, highlighted by leading the "Junior Circuit" in home runs four consecutive seasons, from 1904-1907. Davis is seen here in his A's uniform, in a photo taken by renowned photographer George Grantham Bain. While the aging Davis' role was reduced in 1911, he was still a valued contributor to the Athletics second consecutive World Series championship that year. Rating as (FR-GD), this 4 x 4-5/8" photograph is an excellent composition, with Davis standing out with a dimensional quality, against a dark background. Reverse side stamps include the date "May 13, 1911", and the credit "Special Sporting Service, George Grantham Bain, 32 Union Square East".
