Incredibly rare circa 1890s J. & E. Stevens. Co. "Darktown Battery" mechanical base=ball bank trade card. Published by the Cromwell, Connecticut firm, this 3-1/8 x 5-1/2" relic was distributed to encourage sales of the bank to hardware and sundry stores during the Victorian time period. The printed front details product dimensions and instructions while identifying the manufacturer. The back is blank. In Jefferson Burdick's original ACC catalog, this vertical one-color #302 artifact was given the HB27 designation. A lovely nineteenth century slice of baseball history in overall (EX-MT) condition.
