If revenge is a dish best served cold, then Shibe Park in Philadelphia was the perfect setting for the 1948 NFL Championship Game. Known as the "Philly Blizzard Game", this championship match featured the Philadelphia Eagles versus the Chicago Cardinals. The previous season ended with the Cardinals on top, after they beat the Eagles 28-21, in the 1947 NFL Championship Game. In the 1948 rematch, neither wind, nor heavy snowfall, nor frozen Cardinals could keep the Eagles from an historic 7-0 victory, which is the lowest scoring game of NFL Championship play.
From this frigid affair, comes this 12/19/48 NFL Championship Game program. Featuring an Eagles team photo on the front cover, this vintage gameday souvenir takes the bidding field in fairly solid (Vg) condition. Accompanying is a 1949 Philadelphia Eagles 10-1/2 x 3" die cut, feather-shaped schedule, that presents very handsome Ex details, with deference to staple holes at the left end. Sponsored by "Cities Service Dealers", this rare feather is a fantastic souvenir from the Eagles 1949 season, which saw them repeat as NFL Champions.
Opening Bid $200.
