"Fritz" Pollard and Bobby Marshall have the distinction of being the first two African-Americans to play in the NFL. Both were in uniform for the inaugural NFL season in 1920, Pollard with the Akron Pros, and Marshall with the Rock Island Independents. Pollard's undefeated Pros were anointed the first NFL champions that year, and he went on to coach the Akron squad, and a couple of other teams, making him the NFL's fist African-American coach as well. Add this important Hall of Famer to your collection, with this Pollard signed and inscribed index card. This vintage, unlined card is personalized with "to Ron Baylukoff, For your great enthusiasm and admiration, I greet you Fritz Pollard". Pollard's 7-8 strength signature is followed by the inscriptions "Al American '16, Brown '19, Hall of Fame '54". Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
