Chew over a classic collectible, with this 1950s Kholm Mfg. Co. “Play Baseball” 1¢ gumball vending machine. This coin-operated, heavy metal vendor is a countertop model, with four pre-drilled holes at center of the bottom plate, suggesting it could be adapted for use with a pole stand. Also noted on the bottom are rubber disc feet, with three present, and one absent. The front features an enclosed vertical pinball type game, with an old-time player illustration positioned between the words “Base” and “Ball” at top. Below the game board, are a push prong, a pull-push button, a flipper lever, the dispensing door, and a door with lock to access the interior coin reservoir tray.  The instructions label is absent, and there is a narrow strip of yellow tape, just below the game window. Plastic bubbles filled with Double Bubble logo baseball gumballs protrude from both sides, and the interior compartment is filled with hundreds of ancient gumballs. There is another lock on the top plate, and four keys accompany, though only the key numbered “12323” opens the locks. The pull-push button only comes out a 1/4”, and while the flipper, and push prong seem to operate as intended, the game is not working, and the testing coins could not be retrieved, after being inserted into a slot located on the right side. Both the red paint, and the game graphics are appealing, and overall display appeal rides high.

The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.  Opening Bid $150.
