Persistent promoter "Sport Shirt Bill" Veeck got some things wrong, but he also got an awful lot right. One of his better marketing items is the player photo pencil clips, vended by the Cleveland Indians during the late 1940s to the early 1950s. While reception was very favorable when these clips accompanied pencil purchases at Municipal Stadium long ago, seventy years later these souvenir stand novelties are in short supply, and amassing a complete set is no small task. Skip the chase and treat yourself to a pleasant find, with this 1948-1952 Cleveland Indians pencil clip hoard of (180) players. This five-year run includes many of the Indians stars who were part of the 1948 World Series champion and 1954 AL champion squads. The metal backers vary in state of preservation from bright-and shiny examples, to those bearing minor-to-moderate oxidation. The all-important player photo buttons are nicely matched in appearance, showing average (EX-MT to NM) details, with just a few a bit lesser.
