Tragically fallen in a 1979 plane crash, Thurman Munson holds status as highly coveted autograph subject. A heart and soul competitor, Munson was named the first captain of the New York Yankees, since Lou Gehrig held the position in 1930s. Munson has applied an ("8") strength autograph on the top-right corner, of a magazine page featuring an article by Sports Illustrated senior writer Rom Fimrite. A caption printed below a photo of the gritty Munson on the basepaths, reads "Old Fisk-fighter Thurman Munson batted cleanup for the New York Yankees but got a little dirty - as usual".
Opening Bid $200.
