Advanced autograph seekers find a rare pair, with this Jack Ogden and Charles Knapp Jr. dual-signed 1939 check. Ogden (d.1977) played for several National League teams from 1918-1932, and then joined the front office of the Baltimore Orioles in the 1930s. Knapp succeeded his father Charles Sr. as president of the Orioles team, which was an International League franchise at the time. Drawn on the Orioles team account at the National Marine Bank of Baltimore, this check number "16876" is dated 5/9/39, and bears burn marks on the corners, possibly acquired during the 1944 fire which consumed the original Oriole Park. Great authenticity is derived from the numerous bank cancellation perforations and processing stamps.
