A peek at the inner workings of Topps madcap non-sport division is provided, with this 1967 Topps Funny Travel Posters original artwork set. A humor series of paper posters lampooning popular travel destinations, the FTP series trends towards the scarce end of the hobby, with relatively few examples available on any given day. We're way beyond scarce with this one-of-a-kind offering, which was created for FTP poster #24 "Visit Mexico...Where the Action Is!".

This two-piece set is composed of: 1.) 9-7/8 x 18" line drawing on a 13x20 piece of Plaza Illustration Board, that is stamped on the back with "Return Art To: Topps Chewing Gum, Inc. 254 - 36th Street, Brooklyn 32, N.Y.". The cover for this board is written in red pencil with "Travel Posters Mexico #24 Nov. - 1967"; and 2.) 8-7/8 x 17-1/4" paper color panel in three precisely overlapping sections. Designations for the colors used in the production of the poster are penciled over various points, providing great authenticity and a historic record of the detail involved in production, at the same time.

All elements of this production artwork set present handsomely, well worthy of display. In direct opposition to the caption at top, the sleepy scene plays out with both humans and animals partaking in their afternoon siesta, including a cat and mice on the ground, a mule tied to a rail, and a buzzard perched on a roof post. We believe the correct translation for the sign that reads "Todos Los Huevos" means "All the Eggs", a cryptic notice if we ever saw one.
