Long ago the Harvard Crimson football team ruled the game. Winners of four National Championships during the 1910s, this famous squad from one of the World's most prestigious institutions, racked up a 33-game unbeaten streak, while also winning back-to-back championships in 1912 and 1913. Delve into this historic era from a time before there was an NFL, with this 1910s early NCAA college football program lot of (3). Though the NCAA traces its origins to 1906, when it was known as the IAAUS, these antique programs were issued just a few years after college football's governing body officially became the NCAA in 1910. In light of their advanced age, these fairly well preserved publications have stood up nicely over the years, and all report in attractive condition. Each represents teams that would go on to become charter members of the Ivy League, when it was established in 1954, with:

11/16/1912 Harvard vs. Brown at Harvard Stadium, from a Harvard national championship season. The cover is detached with a 1/2" spine split and a penciled price notation, otherwise it remains clean and pleasing, presenting VG+ details, with a great stadium photo on the front. The pages of this 68-page program are clean and supple, and are loaded with player photos. Also noted are a team photo and a game action shot, with helmet-less players. It's important to note that the NCAA was founded to limit the violence of the early college game, which saw hundreds of players die from rough play, while many more were injured. The rugged players pictured are from a time when the earliest efforts to limit the mayhem were being made. 

10/14/1913 Pennsylvania vs. Lafayette at Franklin Field, from a season that saw Penn go 6-3-1, including a 10-0 win in this game. Another beefy publication with 24 pages, this solid program has a vertical compacting fold at center and some moderate stress lines along the spine. The spine is tight, the cover is clean and the pages are supple, and though this hardy example must be rated (VG) due to the fold, it is very pleasing for the period.

10/14/1914 Harvard vs. Brown at Soldiers Field (Harvard Stadium). A bright, crisp 4-page scorecard, this solid example has a tight spine, bold graphics and a clean surface, however a crease at bottom right and a 1" tear on the bottom border that goes through all of the pages force a grade of (GD), though it really presents a good bit better.
