In the mid-1970s, Sports Illustrated commissioned some of the country's most prominent illustrators to pay homage to the greatest living athletes. The first series of 6 lithographs was produced in 1974 with a limited-edition run of 1500. The second series of 6 lithos followed in 1976 with a more exclusive run of 1,000. Over the past 4 decades, the collectability and market value of these "Living Legends" has increased substantially—partly because many of the icons have passed away. Offered here are 1974 Joe DiMaggio (#342/1500) and 1976 Red Grange (#617/1000)—both 18x22 and featuring pencil "9" strength pencil signatures. Apparent EX-MT to NM condition. Handsomely matted and framed to larger dimensions. Auction LOA from JSA.
Frames included with lots: while we make every effort to protect the frames included in these lots during pre-auction storage and post-auction shipping, we are not responsible for any damage to the frames themselves, and no refunds will be given due to frame damage.
