Movie monsters were meant to scare you. Leave it to the folks at Topps to turn the tables from monster mayhem to "Monster Laffs", after all this is the company that attacked corner store countertops with the "Mars Attacks" series in 1962. Here we have a 1963 Topps "Monster Laffs Midgees" complete set of (153). Originally issued in 3-card panels, these small format cards come up big with a desirable condition range of (90% EX to NM+, 10% lesser). Smaller sized cards are notorious for not holding up as well as standard size issues and the fact that these Midgee cards were separated from each other by breaking the factory perforation tabs, was like putting out a welcome mat for condition problems. Certainly the collector who assembled this set is a patient and discerning being, with an eye for detail that makes your run of the mill "Bug-Eyed Monsters" look as blind as bats. Two crowning touches are included, with an intact 3-card panel and a corresponding binder with Monster Laffs related images decorating the front and back covers.
