Maryland’s favorite son, Cal Ripken, Jr. honed his Hall of Fame skills at Rochester during the 1981 season. Tailored to the specifications of the garments worn by Ripken that year, this Rochester Red Wings period jersey is autographed by the non-stop shortstop. The white knit button-down apparel item features “Red Wings” angled across the chest in red-on-black twill with a lengthy paraph accenting the script-style mascot name. In like fashion, “5” is sewn to the back and left front and “RIPKEN” is arched on a nameplate atop the back number in solid red block-style characters. On the horizontal portion of the back “5,” Ripken’s silver marker autograph projects (“9”) strength and clarity. Red-white-and-black striped stretch knit lines the sleeve endings and red-and-black striped stretch knit lines the collar. A vintage “Wilson” size “44” label resides within the collar. Framed to dimensions: 32"x40" Basic cert/sticker from JSA.
