Given the paucity of 19th-century baseball guides in any condition—let alone well-preserved examples—we were blown away by the sight of Ben Cavallo's collection of rare Beadle's Dime, De Witt's, Wright & Ditson and Bull Durham guides. Beadle's are especially elusive, with single surviving copies from the 1860s having sold at auction for as much as $1,800. Contemporary De Witt's guides are also highly desirable, while the later Wright & Ditson and Bull Durham guides are recognized for their unique aesthetic appeal. All those offered here present nicer than their technical grade. This 1867 Beadle's Dime exhibits VG condition.
