Graded EX 5 by PSA. A very scarce Short Print entry, and the always difficult “Last Card” in its production. Perpetually elusive in a satisfactory state of preservation, the much-coveted card of Jim “Buck” Lansford is almost invariably found to display poor image alignment (as a consequence of unfortunate print sheet positioning) as well as the excessive doses of wear typically encountered in an issue’s final subject. Although its depiction of Lansford is not perfectly positioned by customary measures, the offered piece boasts notably good centering for the issue; this is an attribute that complements its bright and clear illustration and solid overall eye appeal. A barely discernible bump can be seen just above the player's likeness, and the obverse concedes a few faint, superficial scratches. A not-unattractive "rough cut" defines the piece's right edge. Lansford’s ’52 Bowman Large collectible is regarded in the industry as the hobby’s most valuable post-war football card, and generally pleasing examples with this one’s range of positive physical and aesthetic characteristics seldom emerge. An appealing, set-concluding representative, in Excellent condition.
